ASVA Event

We are delighted to present an exciting new networking opportunity for all members with an interest in or responsibility for HR within their organisations. In partnership with leading legal experts Anderson Strathern, ASVA will be hosting our inaugural Members HR Forum on Tuesday 26 April 2022.

The main objective of the forum is to build stronger relationships and create a useful peer to peer network between those responsible for HR within their organisations. Our vision is that participants will be able to have open discussions, share best practice and offer support and guidance to each other when needed.

The group will be chaired by Douglas Walker, Commercial & HR Director at Our Dynamic Earth (and, of course, ex-ASVA Chair) and will feature updates from the expert team at Anderson Strathern –Barry Nicol, Partner and Emily Campbell, Solicitor – on the hot HR topics of the day, providing participants with all the ‘must have’ information they need to successfully undertake their HR obligations.

The forums are for anyone involved in HR in their roles, regardless of job title. You do not need to be a dedicated HR professional to take part, all with an HR remit in their role are welcome, or indeed an interest in the topic of HR in visitor attractions.

Our first forum will take place on Zoom on Tuesday 26 April at 10:30am, with Anderson Strathern providing ‘need to know’ guidance and advice on the following topics:

  • Return to work, given the new Scottish Government guidance
  • Government reform on Flexible working
  • Menopause and the workplace
  • Sexual Harassment at work
  • New UK Employment Bill

The forum will last for 1.5 hours, with dedicated time in each meeting for members to raise any burning HR issues they may have.

Join us on 18th May as we team up with ASVA members Convious to explore the practical application of dynamic pricing.

There’s been a great deal of talk in the industry about the financial benefits of Dynamic Pricing, in this session we’ll identify how to implement dynamic pricing and the instant benefits that this can bring to your destination. From initial visitor conversion to increasing visitation during traditionally quieter periods and increasing food, beverage and merchandise revenues, we will explore how AI driven algorithms can get you one step ahead.

This webinar will provide valuable insight into:

  • Managing customer perceptions – how do you deal with the difficult questions?
  • The benefits of being responsive to local conditions and implementing automated responses
  • Connecting with guests before, during and after their visit to optimise repeat footfall
  • How AI and data driven approaches can add significant value to the bottom line
  • Streamlining and digitising the guest experience
  • Identifying the impact of personalised marketing at different stages of engagement
  • Maximising next generation ecommerce opportunities

The webinar will be delivered by Andy Povey, Managing Director of Convious for UK and Ireland. Andy has over 20 years of experience in the leisure industry, specialising in developing and implementing business intelligence and customer tracking strategies to take companies into new market sectors and geographies.

Andy will be on hand to answer queries and provide advice on how you can start reaping the benefits, even with your existing platforms still in place.

Finally, we will examine how destinations can manage all their operations, from ecommerce to queue management and guest experience from one place and how to create lifelong guest journeys.

Join us for this FREE event, exclusively for ASVA members on Wednesday 18th May at 10.30am. You can register here.

Join us on Tuesday 1st February for this exciting webinar which will enable our community of attraction operators to learn more about the new world of Virtual and Hybrid Tourism in the Metaverse. The Metaverse is the next big thing with some commentators believing that the metaverse economy will eventually be bigger than the real-world economy. This webinar provides ASVA members with the opportunity to understand and embrace the undoubted opportunities it will open up to our sector.

The event will introduce you to new technologies, approaches and ideas to customer engagement and storytelling that the likes of Disney, Barbados Tourism and Seoul City in Korea are pioneering. To deliver the session, we’re delighted to be partnering with ASVA members, New Frontier, who develop cost-effective, environmentally-aware solutions for the tourism market and also provide consultancy services.

According to data, 26% of visitors (with the figure rising rapidly) look for virtual experiences as a way of making decisions on destinations and of personalising experiences when visiting. This growing trend makes the Metaverse a key direction of travel for the tourism industry and Outlook 2030.

Our webinar will share insights into:

  • What is the metaverse and why does it matter?
  • The rise of collaboration and cooperation for digital tourism
  • The physical, virtual and hybrid approaches to Metaverse implementation
  • A look at the early adopters in Metaverse Tourism
  • How the physical and digital world can be combined to create interactive, personalised experiences and deliver creative storytelling
  • A live demonstration of the Metaverse and the technology behind it
  • An example of how this technology can be applied in Scotland today

The session will be delivered by New Frontier Directors Graeme Stevens and Joel Anton. Graeme has been involved in the evolution of the Metaverse since 2016. Before setting up his business, he was a researcher and investor in the Metaverse arena. In 2021, his business secured a partnership with Enjin, a $2bn company that is at the heart of building the Metaverse.

As the UK’s first-ever Tourism in the Metaverse business leaders, Graeme and Joel will be able to answer all your questions about how to get started – from dipping your toe to full-scale enterprise adoption!

The webinar, being held on Tuesday 1 February from 10.30am to 11.30am, is an exclusive FREE event for ASVA members. To join us, please register here.
