This is an ideal opportunity for a friendly and enthusiastic individual to gain experience in one of Dumfries & Galloway’s finest tourist destinations.

In this seasonal role you will work with a great team of people in our tearoom and cabin catering outlets. You will give a warm welcome to visitors, serving hot and cold drinks, delicious cakes and lunches, and ensuring that the highest standards of hygiene are maintained. You will get the opportunity to provide support in the kitchen and the Castle gift shop when required.

We want to hear from candidates who are good with people, have a positive attitude and are eager to learn. Hours will vary with shifts available from mid-June to end of October, including weekends. As Drumlanrig Castle is not accessible by public transport, access to your own transport is essential.

Dalkeith Country Park has been enjoyed by visitors for 120 years and its woodlands, riverside trails, cycle tracks and events calendar are valued by locals and visitors from afar. It is home to Fort Douglas, an exciting children’s adventure park and Restoration Yard, a unique stable yard conversion comprising a retail space, restaurant, food hall and wellness space.

This summer, we will welcome visitors back to our campsite to enjoy our beautiful park, as well as the many other visitor attractions that Edinburgh and the surrounding area has to offer. We are looking for a Cleaner help keep our fantastic site clean and tidy. You will be responsible for maintaining toilet and shower areas to a high standard, keeping bin areas and paths litter free and helping out in other areas as required.

• Are you a team player with some cleaning experience?

Working hours will vary, and we expect you will be required to work 4 to 5 days per week, including weekends. This is a seasonal position from 1 June to 1 September.

Scottish Canals is looking for Destination Workers to join team at The Egg Shed, Ardrishaig, Crinan Canal.

We are looking for passionate, enthusiastic, and motivated individuals to join our team and work with us over our Summer to Autumn 2024 season.

From welcoming the local community and tourists alike to the award winning Eggshed, providing information about the canal and the local area, to serving customers, creating memorable experiences and maintaining our collection of exhibits, our Destination Workers enjoy a wide range of fun and exciting responsibilities.

You will assist customers with purchases, supply information, keep our attractions looking their best and work for our local staff with support from the wider Destination Development team. The role will involve customer service, cash handling, replenishment of the gift shop, placing orders and accepting and checking deliveries, looking after historical artifacts, taking bookings for our community space and supporting local businesses and events.

Your role of Steward at Historic Environment Scotland will be a fixed term position, with an expected start date in May, until the end of September.

Glasgow & Strathclyde is a vibrant area of Scotland, encompassing 21 sites from
Dunbartonshire to Ayrshire, including Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Our team works across a wide range of sites including castles, cathedrals, and gasworks. As a steward, you are key to enhancing the experience of our visitors by engaging with them about all aspects of our unique sites.

As a roving steward you will have the opportunity to work at all sites across the Glasgow & Strathclyde district, covering leave and supporting special events across the stewarding team. Sites are spread across a wide geographical area, and include Biggar Gasworks, Crossraguel Abbey, Rothesay, Newark, Bothwell and Dumbarton Castles. You will have the opportunity to work alone, and with a variety of site teams, and there are rarely two days the same. Regular weekend working will be required.

The role will see the candidate assist in the smooth running of our seasonal onsite restaurant and take away by delivering excellent service and high-quality food. To work along with our Head Chef David Millar to find new and exciting ways to ensure our guests are left with 5 star experience.

Scottish Canals are responsible for the management and development of five canals; we care for bridges, buildings, locks, The Falkirk Wheel, The Kelpies and 19 water supply reservoirs in locations across Scotland.  We are currently seeking cheerful, positive, and outgoing people to join our seasonal team.

Key Duties Include:

Operating locks and swing bridges (full training given)
Planning boat movements to move vessels through the canal as efficiently as possible
Assisting boaters and members of the public with information and enquiries
Operating mowers & strimmers
Carrying out minor maintenance works as directed
Maintaining accurate and timely records as required.
Assisting and supporting water management and water conservation

To be successful you will have:

Face to face customer service experience
Basic DIY and maintenance skills
The ability to communicate positively and effectively with other team members and boaters to support the efficient operation of the canal
Basic literacy and numeracy skills, including basic use of computers and smart phones
Health and safety awareness
A full driving licence and your own transport is essential

This role attracts an hourly rate of £12.13. You will work on a rolling rota which will include weekends and bank holidays.

If you’re interested in tourism, travel and have a keen eye for detail. We have casual contracts available with a degree of flexibility around working patterns and hours.

The Cleaning Assistants will assist with the interior cleaning of all Holiday Boats based at The Falkirk Wheel to the satisfaction of the Holiday Boat Manager.  This will involve general cleaning on a variable rota during the holiday season. 

Full uniform and training will be provided.

Key Duties Include:

All housekeeping duties e.g. cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, vacuuming & dusting.
Ensuring all inventory items are checked and replaced where necessary.
Rearranging bed layout and making up beds as directed and ensure all linen is in good condition.
Informing the Operations Manager of any defects that need attention.
Keeping the Operations Manager & Senior House Keeper informed of any issues as they arise
Any other duties as required to ensure efficient turnaround of boats.

Seasonal work in our Brand Home team, communicating our story, spirts and brand through 5 star experiences.

Hosts are responsible for providing a world class service to guests at Holyrood Distillery. They will conduct guided tours, work within our on-site bars, hosting events; actively promoting the brand, products, and experiences. They will also be asked to perform other duties across the distillery which will involve working within the shop, taking bookings, and assisting with admin tasks.

They will have responsibility for the daily stock and presentation of the Distillery, including the sale and up-sale of spirit and shop products, tastings, pouring and presenting drinks, and other related activities.

Hosts will be the face of Holyrood Distillery – so must be passionate and knowledgeable about our products and experiences; and be a genuine people person with a passion for Edinburgh and our place in it.

Must be calm when under pressure, with the confidence and ability to respond to unexpected situations professionally, and to seek advice and support when required.
