This post is available on a part-time, seasonal basis with varied hours offered. Hours of work will be flexible depending on the availability of the individual; and will include shifts over the weekend and occasional evening work.

Dundee Science Centre is currently looking for outgoing, dynamic, confident, exceptional communicators to join our team to fulfil the key role of Science Communicator in a part-time capacity.

You will be part of a team responsible for the smooth operation of Dundee Science Centre’s programmes and services on a daily basis, supporting the Visitor Experience Leader (VEL). You will support the wider team in science communication and ensure the quality of delivery by team members meets audience expectations and standards. Primary objectives will be championing enhanced visitor engagement, ensuring that audiences have an enjoyable, safe, and inspiring experience.

You will be an ambassador for and the public face of Dundee Science Centre. You will be an excellent communicator and an effective team player with the ability to multi-task. Your main function will be to interact with all visitors in a friendly, outgoing manner ensuring an exceptional experience.

We’re seeking a Customer Operations Assistant to provide exceptional customer service at our Seaport Marina in Inverness.

First class customer service is central to everything we at Scottish Canals do, and you will help us provide it at the busy marina. Working from June to September from 9am to 5.30pm Saturdays and Sundays, you will help our customers with all their marina requirements.

These include selling diesel, electricity and allocating berths, providing directions and tourist information, and helping with moorings. At the same time, you will work closely with nearby lock and bridge keepers, oversee the marina facilities, and generally provide support around the office.

Although we’re looking for someone with proven customer service and cash handling experience, we’ll provide all the training you’ll need to do the practical jobs. You’ll be a self-starter, comfortable working on your own, enjoy helping people and solving problems.

You will provide information, assistance and deliver guided tours whilst also ensuring visitor safety at Edinburgh Castle. The duties are detailed below:

•Provide assistance and information in a friendly manner to maximise visitor experience
•Develop existing knowledge of the castle’s history and share this with visitors
•Ensure the security and cleanliness of apartments and look after their contents during opening hours. Report any suspicious activity or behaviour to Senior Guides/Duty Manager
•Ensure visitor safety throughout the working day and prevent any damage to the castle
•Implement correct closedown procedures, ensuring site is clear of visitors and apartments secure
•Engage with visitors who may require use of wheelchairs, lifts or the mobility vehicle
•Manage visitor flow and report any issues to Senior Guide/Duty Manager
•Manage vehicle access inside the castle
•Assist with procedures on ceremonial occasions
•Assist with functions out with castle opening hours

• Provide a world class welcome and direct visitors as appropriate upon their arrival at Edinburgh Castle.
• Sell appropriate tickets and products to all walk-up visitors.
• Ensure all vehicles entering the castle and parking on the esplanade have the appropriate approval.
• Ensure the security and safety of the visitor, whether arriving on foot or by car, and any other activity taking place on the esplanade throughout the day.
• Ensure all group visitors to the castle are welcomed and their access into the castle is managed as efficiently and effectively as possible, providing additional information as appropriate.

Inveraray Castle is based in Scotland, on the edge of Loch Fyne, and surrounded by the majesty of the west highlands. The castle is the seat of Clan Campbell, home to the Dukes of Argyll, since the eighteenth century and it has been featured in many films and documentaries.

We are looking for flexible full-time seasonal tour guides who have a passion for history and bringing a positive visitor experience to the castle.

Job Purpose:

Take an active role in the day to day operation in all aspects of the venue (front
desk, galleries, café and gift shop), working as part of a team to ensure successful
delivery of services to the public.

Below is a range of tasks you will be required to perform in the role. You will be trained on
all aspects, with rotation of duties managed through the staff rota.

Duties include:
To champion a world class visitor experience at all times and act as a role model for
exceptional service.

Undertake reception duties, (eg admission of members of the public, dealing with
enquiries, process bookings, dealing with retail sales, maintain and monitor records, etc)

Work in the Visitor Centre shop actively upselling products, re-stocking shelves and
ensuring general up keep of the area.

Work in the visitor centre café preparing and serving light meals, snacks, hot and cold
beverages.

Control stock rotation and manage stock levels in café.

Manage stock inventory for retail and visitor materials.

To proactively encourage donations, take every opportunity to upsell events, café and
shop facilities, including corporate events and group bookings.

Accurately deliver GTOS Visitor Centre and local visitor information using a range of
resources including, on site materials and digital tools.

Follow daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks associated with maintaining an excellent
customer service experience, including but not limited to; clearing tables and disposing of food waste, washing up, cleaning of equipment, stores, customer toilet checks throughout the day, stairwell and lift clean and clear of any debris, welcome area outside building is clean as well as all public facing areas of the visitor centre.

Assist with development of profitable retail operations and excellent customer service.
Assist with the proper security of the venue, including key holding duties.

In line with legal and operational guidelines, process cash, cheque and card
transactions, bank income and complete daily and weekly income records.

Assist at events including private views, education activities and group visits.

Undertaking minor maintenance/ repairs as directed to the displays, fixtures and
fittings, including replacing light bulbs (where possible), monitoring environmental
conditions (where appropriate) and ensuring that all matters of significance are recorded appropriately and reported to the Centre Manager for attention.

Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues within the organisation.

Comply with, and ensure compliance with, all Live Borders policies and procedures.

Ensure services meet Health and Safety standards established by Live Borders.
