Join our team as a Tour Guide

The Real Mary King’s Close is buried deep beneath Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. On their fully guided tour, guests are taken to the heart of the city’s deepest secret: a hidden network of four underground streets containing the remains of original town houses and rooms which date back as far as the 17th century.

An opportunity has arisen to contribute to the further success of this attraction and we require a Tour Guide and Guest Services Team Member. Through our exceptional training program you will have the skills to lead our guided tours as well as greeting guests, processing bookings and working in our café.

Using a mix of expert knowledge and humour you could be hosting and creating a memorable experience for every guest. You should have experience of performing to and engaging with an audience, working with the public and proficient use of till systems.

We are looking for people who enjoy being centre stage and bags of personality is a must. This role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to be part of a team to have fun delivering exceptional guest experience.

The role also includes assisting with private evening hire and event operations as and when required.

Contract: 18 – 24 hour contract – fixed term (January – March)

The role requires flexibility with work schedule which will involve weekends and evenings as appropriate, this also includes helping out with special evening events and tours.

Salary: starting at £10.52 per hour with the opportunity to increase to up to £10.90 with cross training across other departments.

Assessment centres for this role will be held on 18th January 2023 and the 19th January 2023
