Mike Benson, Director of The Scottish Crannog Centre
Mike has spent the last 18 years working in heritage as Director of four museums championing heritage as a potential force for good. If heritage is a force for good, it makes sense then to maximise this potential. Mike spent the first 28 years of his working life in the steelworks on Teesside before becoming Director of Ryedale Folk Museum. He then became Director of Bede’s World, interim Director at The National Coal Mining Museum for England and is currently Director of The Scottish Crannog Centre.
Following the devastating fire in which the crannog was destroyed. Mike oversaw The Crannog Centres move of location to Dalerb on the north side of Loch Tay. Mike is a committee member for The National Lottery Heritage Fund Scotland, Board Member for Museums Galleries Scotland and a trustee of Outer Spaces.
