PURPOSE OF POST
To assist in the café of the National Mining Museum Scotland, which will include; preparation of and serving food, assisting with orders and stocktake. The post holder will be part of the front of house team and the role will be customer facing, which will require a high standard of customer service and engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Act as a front of house server for the café and in-house functions; includes preparing hot drinks and serving food.
2. Be customer focused at all times; approachable and quick to exceed expectations in fulfilling customer needs.
3. Ensure that customers receive a prompt and efficient service and expectations are met.
4. Ensure that food storage areas are maintained in accordance with the museum’s Food Safety Management System, Healthy and Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
5. Adhere to the museum’s Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and Environmental policies.
6. Adhere to cash handling and the museum’s financial regulations.
7. Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items as set out in the daily menu.
8. Assist with café stock taking when required.
9. Ensure stock, deliveries and wastage are all checked and recorded in line with company and food standards.
10. Assist with food orders.
11. Cleaning duties including keeping café, serveries and kitchen clean and tidy at all times, in accordance with required standards.
12. Be a team player, assisting other team members when necessary.
13. Flexible working required and ability to work weekends.
14. Be aware of locking up and security procedures on site and other regulatory policies such as health and safety and fire regulations.
15. Be available for training updates on food hygiene standards and similar areas when required.

Accommodation is available at Inverewe. Poolewe is the nearest village and a great base for all sorts of outdoor pursuits and days off can be spent exploring this wonderful part of Scotland. We will also share our local knowledge of beaches, special hills and some amazing wild swimming spots!

Working at either site will be required on a rota basis. Travel between the sites will be in a Trust vehicle and travel time between sites will form part of your working week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To provide excellent customer service.
• Be responsible and proactive. Ensuring all day-to-day tasks are completed as instructed.
• To welcome customers to the property by providing information on the site and facilities.
• Work with the Visitor Services Managers and property staff to deliver financial targets and other KPI’s.
• Handling cash accurately and processing sales.
• Working closely with the Visitor Services Manager and property staff to ensure perpetually high levels of accuracy are maintained for stock inventories.
• To actively drive-up selling opportunities through strong product knowledge and an excellent customer service.
• Working with the Visitor Services Manager and property staff to ensure high standards of display, preparation, serving and merchandising at all times.
• To help manage car park arrivals.
• Cash reconciliation duties including end of day and administration tasks.
• Be able to take responsibility for your own development and learning.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours and days including working weekend and Bank Holidays as appropriate.
• To work across departments when necessary, supporting the wider Inverewe and Corrieshalloch teams.
• To develop a working knowledge of the history of the site and being able to relate that to products.
• To provide consistently excellent customer service when dealing with high volumes of customers.
• Adhering to the property’s quality standards including wearing of uniform.
• Assisting in the general ongoing operational cleaning of all areas as necessary.
• Ensuring health and welfare of property staff, volunteers and visitors by adhering to the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment policies and guidelines. This includes working within the property’s “Safe System of Work” (the system for managing Health & Safety).

The current duties of this job do not require a criminal records (Disclosure Scotland) check to be carried out.

SCOPE OF JOB

People Management

Finance Management
• Share till reconciliation duties, as appointed by Visitor Services Manager.
• Assist Retail/Catering with stocktaking and goods receipting.

Tools/equipment and cleaning chemicals
• Will be an occasional user of cleaning chemical
• Is expected to work and ensure compliance within the property’s ‘safe systems of work’ (the system for managing health and safety)

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

Essential:

• Ability to work within a team or independently, with minimal supervision to a high and safe standard.
• Ability to be flexible, in particular to adapt working patterns and tasks to meet day-to-day variations in visitors, catering and general property needs.

We’re looking for a warm and welcoming person to join our team at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery in the centre of Inverness .

You’ll take responsibility for running our wee café (open Tuesdays to Saturdays throughout the year) supported by the wider High Life Highland Catering Team. Your aim will be to produce and serve great café food and outstanding coffee, whilst helping build up a regular and loyal clientele.

£20,875 – £22,722 pro rata per annum with great terms and conditions.

Initially a six-month post but high likelihood that this will become permanent.

Role Summary:

As the Hospitality Supervisor at Conifox, you will be responsible for the everything that happens which involves food and drink service within the Fetching Fox, Activity Centre, and social and corporate events. It will be your responsibility to oversee each individual’s guest dining experience, ensuring quality control, staff management, health and safety regulations, inventory and most important providing outstanding customer service.

You will be the face of hospitality at Conifox, in our exciting family friendly business, making sure every guest has an enjoyable, memorable, and safe experience whilst eating, drinking, and socialising with us.

Responsibilities

• Setup, run and close down corporate bars and corporate events.
• Carry out & lead set up shifts for events to a high standard following the specifications of the client
• As well as running day time conferences and meetings, the supervisor will also be responsible for certain areas during weddings or dinners such as bars, supervising Front of House or Back of House operations.
• Assist with the training and development of new staff members as determined by the Food and Beverage Manager
• Accepting duty management responsibilities as determined by the Food and Beverage Manager Provide ad-hoc cover for the Café Supervisor/Manager and undertake general food and beverage assistant duties as required

Qualifications/Experience
• A warm, friendly ‘can-do’ attitude is essential, as well as the ability to communicate effectively
• Previous experience in a similar role – waiting and bar supervisory work during large conference and banqueting events is advantageous
• The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Food hygiene certificate along with a completed Alcohol Awareness course would be advantageous.

ABOUT THE ROLE

After a challenging few years, the college is seeing an increase in visitors. We have students from Wisconsin staying with us, language school students from all over the world and other clients who hold conferences, meetings and weddings. However, with this increase in visitors comes a growing need to provide an excellent standard of service to ensure they have a great experience at Newbattle.

To enable us to achieve that excellent service, we are recruiting ‘casual’ housekeeping and catering staff. Experience is not essential, as full training will be given, and you can choose to work either in housekeeping or catering or both.

The hours are flexible, but there will be shift working – early mornings, evenings and weekends. We offer a good rate of pay £10.90 per hour plus holiday pay. This is a good opportunity for anyone who wants a ‘casual’ contract with flexible hours.

Catering Assistant

Daily cleaning duties in kitchen and dining area.

• Carry out, under supervision, preparation of food eg vegetable preparation,
baking, finishing off meals.

• Assist with the serving of meals.

• Inform the Chef Manager or Cook Supervisor of any fault or malfunction in any
equipment or machinery in the kitchen.

• Undertake any other duties that the Chef Manager or Cook Supervisor consider

Housekeeping Assistant

• Undertake all domestic duties as directed by the Domestic Team Leader

• Participate in maintaining physical security of College buildings and contents

• Inform the Domestic Team Leader of any faults or malfunctions in any
equipment or machinery

• Undertake any other duties that the Domestic Team Leader considers necessary
to ensure the delivery of a high quality responsive service
