The Kitchen at Restoration Yard is a gorgeous restaurant in the stable yard area of Dalkeith Country Park, a beautiful 1,000-acre space owned by the Duke of Buccleuch. The team ensure that every guest receives a friendly welcome and the highest standard of service.

We are looking for F&B Assistants/Waiters to work in our fast-paced restaurant at weekends and during the busy Easter period. You will be responsible for a busy section of the restaurant, ensuring a professional and relaxed dining experience for our guests. You will be confident and able to work independently, with the ability to communicate effectively with the kitchen and management team.

As Kitchen Porter you will assist the chefs in maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment. Heavy duty cleaning and lifting tasks are a key part of the role. Candidates should have the ability to use an industrial dishwasher and chemical cleaning products. Some light food preparation may also be involved.

The Person
You should have the desire and skills to provide an excellent customer experience for our updated offering. Having similar experience in a catering environment and the ability to cook, manage orders for the café and plan rotas for the catering, be proactive and have great organisation skills and be able lead a small team is essential. There will be statutory paperwork that requires completing daily, plus you’ll need to prepare banking, finalise end of day tasks and log the cafe’s performance. The role will include regular weekend working and the opportunity to support our other venues as required. We’re looking for a seasonal part time Catering Assistant with a genuine willingness to provide a world-class visitor experience to join our busy catering team. As part of this friendly team, you’ll be responsible for waiting on tables, barista duties, providing excellent customer service, operating the till, cash handling and some cleaning duties. This role will include working weekends. 

We’re looking for a warm and welcoming person to join our team at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery in the centre of Inverness. You’ll take responsibility for running our wee café (open Tuesdays to Saturdays throughout the year) supported by the wider High Life Highland Catering Team. Your aim will be to produce and serve great café food and outstanding coffee, whilst helping build up a regular and loyal clientele.

The role

To coordinate the day-to-day catering operations to deliver first-class visitor experience and that your team and visitors enjoy a safe and happy environment; whilst generating income to exceed agreed targets in support of RZSS vision and mission.

Some of the things you’ll do:

Working with direction from the Catering Coordinators, provide day-to-day supervision of the Catering team.
Develop and maintain a supportive and dynamic first-class sales and service culture amongst the team -focusing on delivering high standards of service and food presentation in accordance with Cook safe regulations.

Ensure the Café areas are presented to the highest standards (displays, seating areas, signage), fully stocked and equipment is cleaned, maintained and serviced on a regular basis and report to the Coordinator any maintenance issues.

Support Visitor Experience Assistants with visitor complaints and act a route of escalation to deal with refunds in a professional manner and referring customer to your line manager if complaint cannot be resolved.

Working alongside the back of house team to ensure the smooth running of the cafe and outdoor catering areas as one united team.

What we’re looking for:

Starting pro-rated salary of £18,094 per annum (based on 30 hours per week)
Good achievement at Higher grade level (including English & Mathematics) or equivalent qualifications or experience.
Trained/certificate in Cooksafe and has ability/qualification to train others
Good understanding and use of electronic cash systems.
Significant experience of leading a team in a customer service environment

Job Title: Seasonal Tearoom staff

Wages and hours of work: Minimum wage. Part time, hours and days to be worked to enable the rota which includes weekends and Bank Holidays. The season is scheduled to end at the end of September.
