OVERVIEW OF THE POST

All Catering Assistants are responsible for the delivery of high quality food and service at Almond Valley Heritage Centre. Customers are expected to receive the same high quality of service whether in the Tearoom, at a Birthday Party, the Shepherd’s Hut or when using Soft Play.

Catering Assistants are expected to communicate well, respond quickly to instructions and work as part of a team.

INFORMATION ABOUT TEAM

You will form part of the Catering Team, lead by the Catering Manager. You will be responsible to the Senior Catering Assistant/Kitchen Leader according to work location.

SCOPE OF DUTIES

Key Responsibilities, Duties and Objectives

Kitchen

• Supporting the Kitchen leader in food preparation and service
• Carrying out basic food preparation tasks – peeling and chopping vegetables,
baking
• Ensuring senior personnel are equipped with ingredients and equipment
• Tidying and rotation of stock, accepting deliveries, correct storage of food supplies
and consumables
• Cleaning of kitchen work surfaces, equipment, floors, walls et
• Dish washing duties
• Understanding Health & Safety, HACCP, Environmental Health Legislation and
Almond Valley procedures

Front of House

• Service of hot and cold drinks, bakery goods and grab-and-go items
• Taking orders for hot foods and relaying of these
• Operation of the tills
• Assisting with waiting and table service duties
• Maintaining tables, chairs and high chairs in a clean and tidy fashion i.e. clearing
between customers
• Maintaining the servery counter and till points to the standard specified by senior
staff
• Ensuring cleanliness of all service areas
• Ensuring adequate stocks of cutlery, napkins etc
• Stocking of refrigeration, display units to the specification indicated
• Understanding fire safety and emergency evacuation procedures
• Record feedback from visitors

Hospitality: House Chef (Breakfast)

Hours: Part time – 15 hours per week over 3 days (Friday to Sunday)

The role of House Chef is to play an integral part in the day-to-day running of Aberturret Estate House and to create delicious, country style breakfast food for our guests. Main duties include but are not limited to; food preparation, plating and serving of breakfast foods including tea and coffee, maintaining health and safety and food hygiene standards and the ordering of supplies.

We are looking for a Cook to join our Catering team. We welcome hundreds of people each week to our Centre and this role ensures that the variety, quality, and sustainability of food products provided through our Seabird Café contributes to the customer’s overall experience.

The Cook supports the preparation of the food on the menu for our daily service and occasional events.

Principal responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Cook are:

i. Check the quality of ingredients and prepare these to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, preparing salads etc.).
ii. Learn and become familiar with the cooking process, equipment and appliances used to make each of our dishes.
iii. Ensure great presentation of our food, by dressing dishes before they are served.
iv. Cook dishes under the supervision of the Catering Manager or the Chef and develop sufficient competence to provide cover during staff absences/holiday cover.
v. Ensure that all dishes for a single order are ready for serving at the same time and co-ordinate effectively with the café serving team.
vi. Take responsibility for maintaining and cleaning the kitchen area/equipment ensuring that all appropriate standards are met.
vii. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
viii. Monitor stock levels and advise the Catering Manager or Chef of any orders that need to be placed.
ix. Ensure that all duties are undertaken in compliance with health and safety, food standards and hygiene regulations and practices, as well as our internal procedures.
x. Carry out any other reasonable duty which is within the competence of the post.

Essential skills and experience

Our café has one of the best views in the town! Because of this, we welcome hundreds
of people a week to our café and you’ll have a vitally important role to play. You’ll help
the catering team to deliver high quality service and you’ll work hard to ensure that our visitors have a fantastic experience.

You will provide a warm welcome and must have a helpful attitude. You’ll quickly
develop an understanding of all our products and ingredients and be able to promote

Principal duties

To cover shifts when required in the museum Coffee Shop and deliver excellent customer service.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

JOB PURPOSE: To provide an outstanding café experience at Café North.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· To provide excellent customer care to all visitors and staff with an enthusiastic and visitor focused attitude, both individually and through the whole team.

· To supervise café staff.

· To ensure that all café produce is correctly stored with appropriate record recording.

· To assist with menu compilation and undertake ordering of produce for the café to ensure good profit margins, and to keep waste to a minimum.

Purpose of Post:
The management of all functions of the café operation at Maryhill Burgh Halls including management of staff, resources, business development, good food, quality standards and supporting the ethos of exceptional employment opportunities for local people.

We have an exciting seasonal opportunity in our daytime catering operation for a Chef to work full-time over the busy summer period and be part of an amazing team who create memorable moments, whether our guests are with us for a spot of lunch, coffee & cake, or celebrating their wedding day.

Our offering consists of a 100-seat beautiful restaurant with an additional 80 outdoor covers. You will be a passionate and supportive team player who is both an effective leader and follower. The role is offered on a permanent basis, and with a starting salary of £26,110 (Band B). Working hours 37 hours per week on a shift pattern of 4 days on, 2 days off.
