As part of a team responsible for building the profile of National Museums Scotland through media and digital channels, you will drive visits to our four national museums and our website through the delivery of specific media relations and communications campaigns. You will do this through creating compelling media materials, events and photo opportunities, filming facilitation and managing external agencies working on our behalf. Targeting a range of media and developing partnerships which extend reach will form part of your remit as will responding to media enquiries.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent) you will have knowledge of applied and strategic media relations and best practice in the world of media relations and communications. It is vital that you have significant relevant practical experience in the field which includes creating compelling media materials and statements, managing sensitive media and communications issues, and acting as a spokesperson, preferably gained within a cultural setting.

A visit to Blair Drummond Safari and Adventure Park (“the Park”) is one of Scotland’s best family days out. Since opening the gates in 1970 (so, 2020 was our 50th anniversary), the brand has grown considerably, and we can now offer an exceptionally varied experience to the hundreds of thousands of visitors we receive each year- in 2021, we welcomed over 500,000 visitors. The Park is situated in 160 acres of landscaped grounds and is home to over 350 different breeds of animal.

The Park has seen significant investment in the last few years, providing a solid foundation for future growth. It forms part of a larger estate enterprise which also includes a farm shop & cafe, a caravan park, a sawmill, forestry, fishing and let property.

We are currently looking for an exceptional candidate to fill our Head of Marketing role at the Park, to develop and implement a sales and marketing strategy in line with our business objectives. This will include driving ticket and ancillary sales and developing new products to build income streams from corporate and in-house events.

Heading a team of 8 that grows to 20 with seasonal staff, key responsibilities include:
• Developing and implementing the Park’s marketing strategy to target key audiences and increase ticket sales & footfall
• Keeping abreast of market trends and competitor activity
• Setting clear team and individual KPIs in line with business objectives
• Being an active participant on relevant membership bodies to remain abreast of industry developments
• Ensuring a clear understanding of our key markets and customer experience to identify opportunities for improvements and development.

This is a role which will give the autonomy to flourish and perform to provide optimal results. The Park is an extremely marketable visitor attraction centre with a wide range of entertainment choices. Assisted by a motivated team, and with a main reporting line to the Managing Director of the Park, the Head of Marketing will be an important part of the leadership team, contributing to the strategic direction and management of the Park.

Key experience sought includes:
• A minimum of 5 years Marketing management in an experience-led business
• Developing and executing Sales and Marketing Strategy and Plans, with related budgets and forecasts
• Broad experience across all aspects of marketing, including PR, CRM, direct marketing and digital
• Developing programmes that can drive profit margin growth, alongside revenue growth

The Opportunity

Duties of The Post

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the objectives of the NGs Marketing and Communications Department.

• Devise and lead strategic and creative integrated marketing and brand campaigns which reach our target audiences and drive footfall, ticket sales and brand awareness. These will promote all aspects of National Galleries of Scotland activities, including our permanent collection, exhibitions, learning and engagement programmes and Trading department activities.

• Devise and lead our email marketing strategy to deepen our engagement with existing audiences and engage new audiences

• Oversee marketing content for our website (www.nationalgalleries.org) to drive footfall, ticket sales and brand awareness with existing and new audiences.

• Oversee on-site collateral at our Galleries to ensure that it is up to date, supporting the visitor experience and driving footfall and ticket sales. This includes wayfinding and marketing signage.

• To be brand guardian for the organisation and achieve style and coherence in all areas of interface between the Galleries and the public.

• Line manage two Marketing Officers and two Marketing and Communications Officers (one of whom is shared with the Communications Team).

• Management of third party agencies, including the media buyer and creative agencies, ensuring best return on investment and creative, innovative campaigns. Ensuring effective procurement and tender process for these contracts.

• To report on results of all marketing activities including, but not limited to, digital metrics, campaign results and ROI.

• Working with Gallery colleagues (behind the scenes and front of house) to achieve buy-in, and to co-operate with the delivery of marketing plans.

• To lead the team, creating a motivated and enthusiastic department with an excellent understanding of NGS and the department’s contribution to strategic goals of NGS.

• Manage the resources of the team, including financial planning and budgeting.

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the objectives of the NGS Marketing and Communications Department.
• Devising and implementing a strategic and creative communications and content plan and accompanying editorial calendar, in conjunction with the Marketing Manager, which reaches our target audiences and drives footfall, ticket sales and brand awareness. • Leading the development and day to day running of NGS’s social media channels, ensuring that the content is in line with the NGS brand strategy.
• Ensuring there is an effective and efficient Press Office function, including timely responses to enquiries, proactive management of sensitive issues and co-ordination of media photography, recording and filming across NGS.
• Leading corporate communications activities, including capital projects at the Scottish National Gallery and The Art Works at Granton.
• Establishing and nurturing relationships with a wide range of audience-focused media and social media outlets and individuals to create opportunities for content and PR. This includes mainstream online and print publications, broadcast media, digital channels including influencers, specialist art and trade publications.
• Line management of one Communications Officer, one Marketing and Communications Officer (Scottish National Gallery project) and one Social Media Officer, and shared lined management of a Marketing and Communications Officer, ensuring staff development and co-ordination of team activities.
• Managing the resources of the team including financial planning and budgeting.
• Ensuring that main tools and processes, such as media monitoring and distribution, continue to be fit for purpose, are being used to the best advantage and represent good value.
• Providing regular reporting on media and social media activities.

WHAT WE OFFER IN RETURN

Starting salaries will normally be at the minimum or at a rate that reflects qualifications and/or experience which are of special value for the post and which are above minimum entry requirements.

The successful candidate will have the option of working flexibly; a mixture of onsite and home working.

You will help to ensure long-term fundraising success for National Museums Scotland by working across the Development team to help recruit and steward individual and organisational supporters. Specifically, you will develop, deliver and support campaigns, materials and promotions for recruiting and retaining supporters, and attracting further donations. You will also provide a high standard of stewardship to National Museums Scotland’s Members, Patrons, and donors.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you must have gained relevant experience in a marketing, fundraising or charity environment. You will have been involved in writing and editing creative fundraising or marketing materials, and have some experience of planning, organising or supporting high quality events. You should also have experience of Raiser’s Edge or a similar CRM system, and you will have experience of utilising data to inform projects. Ideally you will also have managed tenders and dealt with contracted agencies, have experience of writing for the web and of achieving results with the support of volunteers. Knowledge of the legislation pertaining to fundraising would also be useful.

The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for increasing Dovecot’s audience for tapestry, exhibitions and other commercial activities.
You will create and implement press and marketing plans to boost the profile of Dovecot as a world-renowned tapestry studio, events venue and visitor attraction.
Key responsibilities include the website, social media, digital and print communication; obtain necessary approval on all marketing collateral; managing the Commercial Marketing Officer and collaborating with colleagues to meet deadlines.
Working strategically to meet commercial revenue and audience development targets, you will conduct market research and evaluation; develop pricing and promotional strategies; coordinate and manage marketing partners and identify opportunities to enhance the Dovecot brand.

We are seeking an experienced communications professional to join our busy Marketing & Communications team at Scottish Canals. The successful applicant will be Corporate Communications Manager covering proactive and reactive media, strategic communications, internal communications, and stakeholder engagement.

The successful applicant for this role will be a media professional with a corporate communications background who may also have experience of public affairs. The candidate will be able to demonstrate first class strategic thinking and planning skills, you will be an excellent communicator and public speaker, skilled in producing content, dealing with the media and able to convey complex information in a meaningful way to different audiences. You will also have excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, you are expected to be able to work autonomously – with the support of a Communications Officer – and as part of a team             to deliver strategic communications including providing advice and insight to senior leaders. Strong writing and editing skills are essential for this role.

This is a specialist post that requires extensive corporate communications experience. A degree in communications or equivalent experience is essential.

We are offering a salary of circa £39,000 dependant on experience for this role. Co-ordinate media engagement including delivering proactive media activity, such as writing press releases
Assist the Head of Corporate Communications and Marketing with crisis communications and reputational risk management
Work with the Communications Officer to plan, shoot and edit videos and vlogs for the website and social media
Facilitate participation at external events including sector and business awards
Work with internal teams to ensure that key activities and messages are aligned to our brand and values, advising on, and co-creating communications, and evaluating the effectiveness of these
Develop digital activities across web, email, and social media, analysing their effectiveness and providing evidence for recommended development and improvement
Creating engaging multi-channel communications plans which offer value for money, use insight and deliver high impact
Supporting Ministerial and key stakeholder visits including media interview bids and managing reactive enquiries (including on call responsibility)
Provide credible and authoritative communications advice and support to colleagues, including senior leaders
Parliamentary monitoring (e.g. committee programmes, cross party groups etc.) to identify opportunities and ensure appropriate and targeted communications.

Eden Scott is delighted to be working with the National Trust for Scotland, a charity established in 1931, to provide access and enjoyment to the properties, places and collections in its care. They also exist to protect what they look after for future generations to enjoy; and increasingly they are keen to act as a strong conservation voice for heritage and climate change response across Scotland.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at the Trust as Communications Manager on a fixed term basis for 12 months with potential to go permanent.

The Communications Manager will join the charity’s small and busy Communications Team on a fixed-term basis to manage and help deliver external and internal communication activities that support their charity’s vision, objectives and brand. 2022 is an important year for the Trust, as they begin implementing their ten-year strategy, Nature, Beauty & Heritage for Everyone.

The existing Head of Communications is to act as interim Director of Customer & Cause (the department in which Communications is located alongside our Fundraising, Membership and Marketing Teams), and in turn the existing Communications Manager will take over as interim Head of Communications. The postholder will therefore assume the Communications Manager’s role in order to enable her to focus on her new responsibilities.

The specific purpose of the role is to deliver a planned programme of communications to the media and the Trust’s many external and internal stakeholders with a view to delivering high levels of coverage, thus inspiring visitors, members, supporters and their workforce. You’ll work with their external Public Relations agency partner and on your own initiative to develop communication plans that will enhance the reputation of the Trust and promote its work and the benefits it brings to Scotland.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Line management of a Communications Officer (Internal Communications) and a Communications Executive (Fixed Term)
Working with colleagues across Trust and particularly in the Customer & Cause directorate to manage and deliver communications plans and activity that supports the Trust’s strategic objectives.

Working across the customer and cause directorate to develop engaging communication plans as part of national campaigns for fundraising, membership or visitors.
Developing a plan of engaging internal communications to promote a positive working environment for staff and keeping them informed of developments across the Trust.
You’ll support the National Trust for Scotland’s properties, regions and departments in developing their own communication activities, ensuring that they don’t clash with national activity and are within the agreed guidelines.
You’ll ensure the at Trust maintains a and effective and timeous response to media enquiries, including on an out of hours basis.
Providing advice and support to senior managers and Trustees on media and reputational issues.
Key skills and experience required:

Demonstrable expertise in media management and a network of media contacts.
Experience of delivering successful communications strategies
Exposure in voluntary or public sector environment in a communications role
Understanding of the political environmental and social context of the National Trust for Scotland
Accomplished communicator both written and oral.
A proactive approach with problem solving skills and a keenness to push the boundaries
Strong team working skills.
This role offers an excellent competitive salary within a range of £36,523 to £40,238 per annum plus significant company benefits.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland tells the inspirational true story of the country’s history, heritage and culture (from 8500 BC to present day). It was hand stitched by over 1000 people in communities across Scotland. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing Executive & Copywriter to join our dynamic team. The Marketing Executive & Copywriter will be responsible for helping to deliver Scottish Canals Marketing and Communication Strategy and support Scottish Canals in meeting their vision and Corporate Plan.

We are looking for a creative individual and self-starter who is able to come up with ideas and drive the delivery of them. This is a chance for the right person to shape the role and be part of a team that is currently developing it’s 2023-2028 Marketing and Communication Strategy to deliver communications and marketing that can engage all of our audiences.
We are offering a salary of circa £28,000 dependant on experience for this role. Scottish Canals also offers a generous annual leave entitlement of 34 days rising to 39 after 5 years (inc. public holidays), along with enhanced company sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, and a contributory pension scheme with up to a 10% employer contribution.

Main Duties & Key Tasks:
• Leading and supporting on multi-channel communications and customer led campaigns with the purpose of raising awareness Scottish Canals – from generating ideas to delivery and evaluation
• Write and produce engaging copy and develop materials for media, social media, fundraising and marketing materials, emails, web, Google Ads etc
• Manage the day-to-day of Scottish Canals website
• Support the Digital Marketing Executive to manage social channels, ensuring channels are aiming to grow in engagement and followers and protect SC reputation
• Create content and oversee content created by other team members for social media (videos, stories, audio, graphics) to ensure content is consistent in style, tone and in line with key messages
• Reporting, monitoring and analysing on the teams Marketing and Communications activity
• Managing and implementing brand identity across various materials and platforms
• Participating in the on call rota
• Implement proactive Marketing strategies
• Build relationships with key target media and strategic stakeholders maintaining a list of contacts to generate positive media coverage for Scottish Canals’ activities.
• Help deal with reactive media enquiries about leisure activities and opportunities on the network.
• Produce press releases/briefings/information and digital communications for internal and external audiences and produce content for newsletters
• Assist in event co-ordination
• Effectively manage the creation, production, distribution and stock control of marketing and promotional material and literature, both digital and printed
• Comply with SC Health & Safety policy and defined standards. Undertake risk assessments, report incidents, accidents and near misses.
Skills and Experience:
• Marketing & Communications related degree or relevant experience
• Significant experience of managing and delivering a range of marketing and communication activities for complex, high profile projects.
• Understanding of back end systems of website and social media platforms (WordPress and Craft CMS desirable)
• Strong digital skills including evidence of the effective use of social media marketing, SEO, PPC and email.
• Basic social media filming and editing
• Experienced in curating engaging content and evidence of strong copywriting skills, across all areas of marketing mix
• Proficient in the use of a personal computer and business applications software e.g. MS Office.
• Proven experience managing complex content planners, multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
• Proven experience of managing and implementing brand identity across various materials and platforms
• Member Chartered Institute of Marketing, CIM (desirable)
• Basic filming and editing for content creation (desirable)
Personal qualities and abilities required:
• Recommend key messages and appropriate wording for external and internal publications.
• Recognise when immediate judgements can be made and when queries require upward referral to management for guidance in relation to queries from external bodies to SC.

The Marketing Team reports to the Head of Sales & Marketing and is part of the Marketing & Engagement Directorate. The Directorate is accountable for developing the strategy for our external communications, brand, marketing, visitor engagement and commercial activity with a wide remit covering our properties, collections and wider organisational activities.

The Marketing team is responsible for managing all marketing activity across the organisation with a major focus on our visitor business and associated products and services and other commercial areas of business. The post holder will be part of a team of 3 other Executives supported by a Coordinator and will be responsible for working with teams in the directorate to support income generating activity including but not restricted to Venue Sales, including hospitality events and filming, Retail and Catering. A key element is also to work across the organisation and plan marketing activity to support our wider activity and objectives.
